Cat and Woman Get Stuck in Tree Rescued by Firefighters

News

Caught between a branch and a furry place, that is where Emily Whitton found herself.

The woman recently climbed a 60-ft. tree to rescue her friend’s 13-week-old kitten, Bella, who scampered up the mammoth tree after sneaking out of the house. According to The Telegraph, instead of helping the gray-and-white cat down, Whitton got stuck in the tree as well.

Saskia Cornwell, owner of the stranded feline and friend of the equally marooned Whitton, called Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue for help.

Firefighters from Dogsthorpe (yes, DOGSthorpe) came to the aide of the feline and the female. The rescuers first helped Whitton down one of their ladders and then carefully grabbed Bella.

Both Bella and Whitton ended up back on the ground grateful and unharmed.

“It was a ridiculous situation, but Bella loved all the attention. I’ve kept her inside ever since her adventure,” Cornwell, pictured with Bella above, told The Telegraph.

Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue used the unusual dual rescue as a chance to remind the public that it isn’t safe to attempt an animal rescue by yourself.

“We know that people love animals and would risk their own lives to save a family pet or other animal in distress,” the fire brigade said in a statement. “Our advice would always be to avoid putting yourself in danger and to contact the RSPCA in the first instance.”
