Cat Taken in to Be Euthanized But Vet Refused and Saved Her Life Instead

News

Mischa the cat spent all her life with her previous owner until things started to change when she was nine years old.

As the household grew and she continued to age, they had less time to be with her and she started having some urinary tract issues.

"Her former owner contacted a local veterinary clinic to make an appointment, but it wasn't for treatment for the cat. It was for euthanasia," Chatons Orphelins Montréal, a rescue group in Montréal, Canada, shared with Love Meow.

The clinic didn't want to put down a cat whose illness was treatable. "They tried to convince the owner to surrender the cat instead of euthanizing her. She was resistant at first, but finally said yes."

The staff took the calico into their care and gave her the medical attention she needed. That's when they contacted Chatons Orphelins Montréal as they hoped to find her a foster home.

"The older girl was overweight for her size at 6.15kg (13.6lb) while she should be around 4.5kg (9.9lb). We started her on a diet to help her lose weight gradually," COM said.

Odile, a volunteer of COM, took her home to foster. They immediately bonded.

Mischa quickly came out of her shell when she was with her foster family and found her place on the couch as if she owns it.

"Their connection was instantaneous. Mischa became the queen of the house."

"Since she came to us, she hasn't had any trouble using her litter box. She is healthy and she loves her life," COM said.

Mischa is sweet and very affectionate. She follows Odile everywhere she goes and constantly demands cuddles and attention from her.

She loves spending time by the window and watching human TV with her family.

Little things make her a very happy kitty.

What she loves the most is to be close to her humans and give them a snuggle when she wants a cuddle.

Odile was planning to adopt her out when they could find her a good home, but that never happened because Mischa had already found her perfect match.

Yesterday, Mischa officially became a permanent part of her family with Odile.

She couldn't be happier.

"It's hard to believe that she was going to be euthanized, and now she sleeps right next to her human mom every night," COM said.

Happy and loved!
