Kitten Found in Shed, Gets Help to See Again and Reveals Her Adorable Eyes

Stories

A lady spotted a stray cat in her backyard and was surprised to discover that the cat had given birth to a tiny singleton in her shed.

She decided to keep an eye on them from a distance so the mama and the kitten wouldn’t be disturbed.

A couple weeks later, the mother cat left the shed but this time she never returned. After waiting for a while, the lady checked on the kitten and saw her eyes completely stuck shut due to an infection.

She immediately took the kitten to the vet to get help. Chatons Orphelins Montréal, a local rescue group in Montréal, Canada, offered to take her into their care. They named the little bundle Runner.

“Runner could not open her eyes when we got her. They cleaned off the crust and treated her eyes with antibiotics. Runner was just skin and bones, weighing only 350 grams,” Celine Crom of the rescue group told Love Meow.

“She received treatment just in time to save her from blindness.”

Runner was sickly and couldn’t eat well. It’s likely that her mother decided to abandon her when she thought that the kitten would not survive.

Celine took the little tabby home to foster and began bottle feeding her around the clock. In just a few days, her eyes looked a lot clearer. She regained her appetite and put on a lot of healthy weight.

Runner fell asleep in her foster mom’s arms. She loved to be kept warm and snug.

After a week of bottle feeding, her eyes had completely cleared up and she immediately wanted to eat on her own.

Runner chowed down the kitten food and gave herself a nice round belly before drifting off in a food coma.

Last week, she met 16-year-old resident cat, Grandma Marsha, who has a soft spot for foster kittens.

Runner was a bit shy at first, but couldn’t resist Grandma’s love.

The next morning, Celine woke up to her cuddling with Grandma with her arms wrapped around her.

“Marsha is like a mom to all my foster kitties. Now Runner looks for her affection constantly,” Celine told Love Meow.

The little kitten is five weeks old now with wide eyes and lots of curiosity.

They helped heal her eyes so she could see, and now she can’t wait for her next adventures in life.
